Everyone must have experienced failure, whether it’s a failure in the trade, the failure in marriage, failure in school, failure in work and so forth. Even those that look great success despite wallowing must have experienced failure in their lives.
Douglas McArthur said, “There is no security in this earth, there is only opportunity”. From these words it can be concluded that there is not something that will definitely happen in this world. There is no guarantee that our work will be successful. There is no guarantee that the car we will not strike when it will be used tomorrow. There is no guarantee that the pain we experience will soon recover. There is not even a single person who can guarantee that they will age more than 1 hour.
Thomas Alfa Edison, a great inventor who has patented a thousand kinds of findings are also often fail. At the time Edison was trying to find a light bulb, he had thousands of times a failure in finding a filament base material that can be used. But these failures do not diminish the enthusiasm to continue to try to achieve what he expected.
Therefore, we can only exploit the opportunities that are widespread in the world. Whatever we want to take chances, we should be able to take advantage of these opportunities with the maximum. Let us not waste the opportunity that we have chosen to be implemented.
But there are some opportunities that only come once approached us. Like the opportunity to raise and educate children well. In the face of these opportunities, we must act with the full calculation of the maximum, because if we fail to live it, then we’ll never be able to fix these failures. Failures like these that will lead to a protracted self regret, because there is no way out to fix the failures that we have done. So that these failures will continue to haunt our lives and we will continue to feel the impact of this failure.
Failure Causes
If we trace the causes of failure, then we can classify these causes into two major categories, namely failure due to internal factors and failure due to external factors.
Failure due to internal factors is the failure that comes from within us. Many things can cause this failure, such as less computation at the beginning step, is less cautious in doing something, or because they underestimate a particular job. But internal causes are the most common is the fear to try or start something a chance. By avoiding the chance or opportunity does not mean we are cut off from the possibility of failure that we might encounter, but we just have defined failure as our choices.
Failure will result in a person’s internal experience deep regret and disappointment. A person who fails, and knowing that the failure he experienced is the fruit of his own negligence, will feel very sorry for the failure he faced. While the failures caused by outside factors, such as interference of others, the ability of others better than our abilities, cheating others, or fate has been established by God to us. Usually someone will be better able to handle these external failures. Due to the high-minded introspection and then we will be able to face the disappointment there.
I give a little explanation here about “the fate of failed” God has given to us. Perhaps many people are wondering why God “punishing” someone for failure. And those people have done his chances with the maximum, but still fail at the end of the business. Sometimes people do not know about the impact that he would get from a success that he will get. Though it could be the success it would be bad for him. For example, would damage the household, or would interfere with his health. So God gave the best results as a failure for the human self.
The main key in the face of failure is high-minded. Someone must be high-minded in the face of internal or external failure. In particular an internal failure, one must not dare to admit error or omission that he or she did. But most people usually prefer to find an excuse or scapegoat for the failure he faced, so people like this will never be able to learn from the failures he experienced.
In addition to high-minded, someone also has an ability to face problems or failures that he experienced. This capability is known as the Adversity Quotient (AQ). Indeed, the AQ is more developed in one’s childhood, in the parents was instrumental in fostering and developing the child’s ability to AQ. But that does not mean someone who has the ability AQ poor will not be able to deal with failure that he experienced. There are several things that can help one to brave in the face of failure that he experienced while enhancing the ability of AQ that he has.
Here are some simple steps can we do when we face the failure:
1. Surrender to God
“All the results from the action, action and effort we do, is the Rights and Powers of God to decide. We as humans can only try as much as possible.” If we can understand and practice the sentence above, then we will be more easily in the face of a failure. Person’s ability to surrender to this fate will also is very helpful in tackling the adverse effects that may arise due to failure.
A failure that can not be passed by both will imprint on the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind has the ability to weigh each information input from the conscious mind, and then matched with existing records in the subconscious mind that has to do with the same event in the past. If the response is negative subconscious mind, the subconscious mind will send a negative reaction to the conscious mind, and then the conscious mind can be controlled without going to an emotional reaction, be angry, resentful, fearful, jealous, greedy, sad, and others.
If someone can release or release failure that he experienced the fate of God, then the subconscious mind of people will not save it as something negative.
2. Take Lessons
“Experience is the best teacher, whether it’s the failure or success.” This means that of all the failures we face, we must remain positive, and must be able to take lessons from these failures. We must be aware that the risk of any action we take is to succeed or fail.
Although many lessons to be learned from each failure, but it is a lot of people who do not want to return to the failures he experienced them. Instead, they divert or blame failure to others. This is what should be avoided, because if it stays blame failure to others, we will never be able to take lessons from these failures.
3. Rest
Each failure will certainly provoke a person’s emotions. Such as anger, sadness, envy and so forth. Of course, the emotional effect this will interfere with the activity we will do. Therefore it is better if we took a short break when subjected to failure. This break will allow time for us to be able to avoid the emotional effects that may arise.
The length of rest periods required depends on the intensity of the burden of failure that we face. For major failure, maybe a break is needed in the form of vacations and recreation.
4. Asking and Evaluation
If our mind has been cleared, then we should be able to identify the cause of the failure we experience. Many ways we can do, ask friends, parents, teachers, or even to our rival. Once we know what the cause of failure is encountered, then we can construct a map of the new force on the weaknesses and strengths that are owned, in order to start a new opportunity.
5. Starting a new activity
Starting a new activity, is one solution that one does not dissolve in failure. At the start of a new opportunity, we must be really ready to do the best things to do. But we should also realize from the beginning, all the activities that we began can end in success or failure. And do not forget to use our new powers we have.
There are two opportunities that we can do. First is a new destination with the old ways or old goals in new ways; Second, a new destination with a new way.
